The Decatur Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Germanfest in partnership with our main sponsor Oakwood Mutual Insurance. The festival will be held on the Madison Street Plaza in Downtown Decatur.

The Germanfest Committee will open the festivities with Mayor Dan Rickord Tapping the official wooden keg from Bavaria. Music will be provided all evening by The Franz Klaber Orchestra (The Klaberheads), an interactive 13 piece band from Hamilton, Ohio, who will be entertaining the crowd all night.

This will be a family-friendly event, with Polka dancing and traditional German food including Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, German Potato Salad, Pretzels, and large variety of desserts. A (Biergarten) beer garden serving the best beers in the entire world … German beers, will also make you feel as if you’ve been transported straight to the heart of Bavaria.

Merchandise, including Alpine Hats, Hat pins, Beer mugs & Pitchers will be sold during the event. So, men put on your Lederhosen and ladies put on your Dirndls and get ready for a good time for the whole family at the Dekatur GermanFest … Prost!

This makes the Columbus Oktoberfest unique in that it is the only Central Ohio Festival produced by a family business versus a city or major corporate entity. This community festival has been brewing up and serving smiles for 50+ years. There truly is something for everyone. Tasty food, lively music, bountiful brews, and games galore. The Columbus Oktoberfest has it all. Bier Halls with ample dance floors, a delightful Wine Garten, a giant Kinderplatz (Children’s area) in the beautiful Natural Resources park, an eclectic Marktplatz (arts/crafts, commercial area), a full entertainment line up on three stages, a Vier Meiler (4 miler run/walk event) and of course delicious brats, cream puffs and all the other traditional items you expect.

Oktoberfest in Springboro is one of the premier events held each fall the entire family can enjoy. Produced by the United Church of Christ, the festival allows for a number of local charities to benefit. Authentic German food, biers and wines are enjoyed by all — everything from Bratwust to Schnitzel. And there is also a Kids Fun Zone for the younger attendees to experience.
